ScholarCloud Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how ScholarCloud handles information when you use the app. ScholarCloud is designed as a secure, local-first academic utility that allows you to manage study notes, organize documents, and lock sensitive materials behind a passcode.

We value your privacy above all else. ScholarCloud operates strictly offline on your physical device, ensuring that your notes, personal files, and credentials remain private and secure under your direct control.

2. Developer and Contact Information

App name: ScholarCloud

Package ID: com.scholarcloud.app

Contact email: anoopchandra@silentrend.com

3. Information Stored and Collected

Because ScholarCloud is a local-first application, we prioritize your privacy by keeping your data on your device. We do not maintain external servers for your user data.

Stored locally on your device:

  • Study notes and formatting metadata created inside the app
  • Documents and image files imported into the app's secure directory
  • Your 4-digit Secure Vault passcode PIN (saved securely using Android preferences)
  • App preferences (such as switching between Gallery and List view modes)

Collected or Transmitted to Servers:

  • None. The application does not collect, transmit, upload, or sync any of your personal data, notes, passcodes, or files to any external server or third-party service. All file importing, rendering, and passcode checks are performed locally on your physical device.
Important Data Note: Since ScholarCloud does not sync or back up your data to any server, if you uninstall the app, clear its data, or lose access to your passcode PIN, your saved files and notes cannot be recovered. Please ensure you keep an external backup of important documents.

4. Location Data Handling

ScholarCloud does not request, collect, process, or track your device location. No location features or mapping SDKs are included in the app.

5. Permissions and Device Access

To perform its core functions as a file manager and study notes utility, the app requests standard device access:

  • Storage / Document Access: Required to select and import files or images from your device's external storage into the app's private sandboxed directory.
  • Internet Access: Although the app operates entirely offline and does not transmit data, the Android system may include general internet permissions for platform-level frameworks. No personal data is transmitted.

The app does not request access to contacts, location, microphone, camera, or other sensitive device permissions.

6. How Data Is Used

Your local notes, files, and preferences are used solely to display your materials within the application, manage your folders, and filter files (e.g., adding to favorites or locking them in the vault).

Your passcode PIN is used solely to authenticate your access when opening the Secure Vault.

No data is used for advertisements, user tracking, or third-party marketing.

7. Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not share any data with third parties.

The app does not include any third-party SDKs, analytics packages, trackers, or advertising platforms.

Any external actions, such as opening a PDF in a system-default viewer, are handled through standard Android Intents, which ensure that other applications can only read the specific files you choose to open.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All notes, files, and passcode details remain on your device until:

  • You delete a note or file within the app (which permanently removes it from the app's sandbox directory).
  • You uninstall the app or clear the app's storage in your device settings (which deletes all stored notes, files, and your passcode PIN from the device).

9. Security

The app secures your data using Android's built-in application-level sandboxing, which prevents other applications on your device from accessing ScholarCloud's internal files directory.

The Secure Vault feature adds an additional layer of security by requiring your custom 4-digit passcode PIN to access your locked files.

10. Children's Privacy

ScholarCloud does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. It is safe for academic use by students of all ages.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated if app features, data handling practices, or Google Play store policy requirements change. You are advised to review this page periodically for any updates.
